Privacy Policy

RallyMate is a racket-sports community app (tennis, badminton, table tennis, squash, padel, and pickleball) operated by The Tennis Lab, a student-led tennis initiative based in Dubai, UAE. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions any time: thetennislab.dxb@gmail.com.

• Account: your email address, name, and password (or Google sign-in). Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
• Profile: the details you choose to add, photo, area, skill levels, sports, play styles, availability, bio, years playing, favourite courts, and (optionally) your Instagram handle.
• Date of birth (optional): used only to compute an age band (e.g. “19 to 25”) for safer, age-appropriate matching. Your exact date of birth and age are never shown to other users.
• Location: with your permission, your coordinates are used to find players and courts near you. Other users only ever see your area name and an approximate map position (blurred to roughly 1 km), never your exact location.
• Messages: your 1-to-1 chats and session group chats are stored so we can deliver them, and are visible only to the participants.
• Matches & sessions: proposals, confirmations, joined sessions, and post-match feedback (ratings you give and receive).
• Assessment videos: if you use AI video analysis, your uploaded clip is stored privately and processed by an AI provider (see below) to estimate your level.
• Safety records: reports, blocks, and help requests you submit, so our team can review them.
• Technical: notification subscriptions (if you enable alerts) and simple daily usage counts for AI and map features, used to prevent abuse.

• To match you with nearby players at a similar level and show courts around you.
• To deliver messages, match proposals, session invitations, and reminders.
• To estimate your skill level when you take a quiz or upload a video.
• To keep the community safe, reviewing reports, enforcing blocks, and moderating.
• To respond when you contact support.

We do not sell your data, and we do not show ads.

We use a small number of service providers to run RallyMate. They process data only on our behalf:

• Supabase, our database, authentication, file storage, and realtime messaging.
• Google Gemini (AI), processes assessment videos you upload and messages you send to the in-app assistant, to generate a response. We do not use your content to train AI models.
• Google Maps Platform, receives approximate coordinates to find courts near you.
• Vercel, hosts the app.

Links to third-party sites (for example, booking a court on a venue’s own website) take you outside RallyMate, their own privacy policies apply there.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

RallyMate welcomes junior players, and we design for their safety: exact ages and dates of birth are never shown to other users (only age bands), junior profiles can be identified by our moderation team, exact locations are never revealed, and every user can report or block anyone. If you are under 18, please use RallyMate with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian. Parents can contact us at thetennislab.dxb@gmail.com about their child’s account, including to request deletion.

• Edit your profile details at any time from the Profile page.
• Location, clear your saved location in Settings, or decline the permission entirely.
• Privacy toggles, hide your age band, hide your Instagram, or turn off messages (which also hides you from Discover) in Settings.
• Notifications, enable or disable them in Settings or your device settings.
• Delete your account, Settings → Delete account removes your profile, messages, and matches permanently. You can also email us to request deletion or a copy of your data.

Data is protected with per-user access rules at the database level (row-level security), encrypted connections, and server-side handling of all API keys. We keep your data while your account is active; when you delete your account, your personal data is removed. Safety records (reports) may be retained where needed for moderation and legal purposes.

If we make significant changes, we’ll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of RallyMate after changes means you accept the updated policy.
